Terms of Elastic Fund Matching 1.0.0

Last updated August 10th, 2025.

Period & Procedure of Recurrence

This Funding Process is recurring and raises funds for one week at a time.

Enrollment Decomposition

First, each cyle of your Enrollment will be decomposed into power-of-two components ("Fragments") for matching. For example, if your enrollment is $27, your Enrollment will be broke into $16, $8, $2, and $1 fragments. The binary representation of numbers exactly matches how we break down your enrollment into fragments.

Fragment Partial Matching

Each fragment is a power-of-two. Whenever we insert the fragment into the process, it can match partially at every lesser power of two. A $16 fragment can match at $16, $8, $4, $2, or $1.

Sequential Matching

When each fragment becomes fully matched, we will insert and begin matching the next fragments.

Descending Order

Fragments are matched in order from largest to smallest.

Upgrade Matching

A fragment that is partially matched may be simultaneously matching at a higher amount. It is said to be "upgrading".

Levels

During insertion, Fragments from many Contributors are grouped together into Levels. Levels only contain fragments that are active at a single amount. A level of $8 is only affected by fragments matched or matching at $8.

Ordered and Exclusive

Only one level of each amuont exists. Each new level matches fragments at twice the amount as the level below. Levels are added in order by powers of two, beginning at $1 and subsequent levels enumerating $2, $4, $8 and so on.

Thresholds

Each Level can accumulate matching Fragments until the sum of already Committed ("Matched") and matching Fragments exceeds a threshold. If this threshold is reached, the Level has "Triggered".

Triggering

Triggering is how matched funds are created. When any level accumulates enough matching funds to reach its current threshold:

Matched funds will Disburse at the end of the Recurring Period.

Relations Between Levels

Levels are only able to match funds within certain restrictions and otherwise may not receive any fragments.

At Most Equal

A level can only trigger if it will have no more than the same total as the level below. A level with a total value of $32 can only support a level up to $32. Further matching will not be allowed until the level below grows.

Creation Requirements

Levels can only be created when the level below has matched twice the new level's amount. This enables the new level to begin matching two fragments. A level of $128 can only match $128 when two users match at $128 while at least four match at $64.
